Keeping in mind that Carden Academy is our students' place of business, we have established a Dress Code that includes uniforms to give our students a traditional appearance that is free from the distractions, comparisons, and rivalries of the current fashion trends. As indicated on the True Grits catalog sheets, our uniform policy includes all grades, Junior Primary through Eighth.

As you will see there are a number of uniform options available so that you and your child can make the choices that best suit your needs. While the initial outlay for uniforms may seem expensive, the simple, attractive, and varied "uniform" wardrobe of the school removes the tension of trying to keep up with ever escalating label worship. Students can begin the year with a minimum of clothing items which, as your convenience and budget dictate, can be augmented.

Junior Primary - 3rd

• Peter Pan blouse (with or without piping)
• Zip front jumper (navy or plaid)
• Navy wrap-front skort

4th - 8th

• Polo shirt - short or long sleeve (white, dark green, navy or red) with Carden Academy logo
• Turtle neck (white, dark green, navy or red)
• Oxford button-down shirt (white, long or short sleeve)
• Pleated skirt (navy or plaid)

All grades

• Polo shirt with Carden Academy Logo - short or long sleeve (white, dark green, navy or red) with Carden Academy logo
• Oxford button-down shirt (white, long or short sleeve)
• Turtle neck (white, dark green, navy or red)
• Twill or corduroy pleated pants and shorts (navy and khaki)
• Belt: plain leather or blue fabric, simple buckle (Belts are not required in Junior Primary.)

Required:

• Navy P.E. shorts (no logo)
• P.E. t-shirt with logo
• Socks: solid white, red or navy with no logos. Must be visible.

Field Trips

In order to best represent our school on field trips, sweatshirts are not allowed (unless otherwise specified).

(JP-Grade 3)

• Regular school uniform.
• On cool days students may wear windbreakers, fleece jackets, or pullover or cardigan sweaters with a Carden Academy logo.

(Grades 4 - 8)

• Short- or long-sleeved white oxford shirt under a navy blue vest, cardigan, or pullover sweater with a Carden Academy logo. (Students are, of course, allowed to wear these vests or sweaters at school as well.)
• On cool days students may wear Carden Academy windbreakers or fleece jackets over their field trip uniform.

• Students in JP through Grade 3 may wear Carden Academy windbreakers or pullover or cardigan sweaters with a Carden Academy logo patch (no sweatshirts).
• Students in Grades 4 - 8 are required to wear a short- or long-sleeved white oxford shirt under a navy blue vest, cardigan, or pullover sweater with a Carden Academy logo patch.

Optional:

• Navy pullover sweatshirt with logo
• Dark green fleece zip-front jacket with logo
• Cardigan or V-neck pullover sweater (navy or red) with logo patch
• Flannel-lined windbreaker (red or navy) with logo
• Navy sweatpants (P.E.)

• Acceptable Shoe Type (Grades 1 - 8): Athletic shoes that tie
• Acceptable Shoe Type (Junior Primary, only): Athletic shoes that Velcro or zip
• Acceptable Solid Colors: Navy Blue Black Red Tan
  Forest Green Brown White Gray

• No prints, plaids, polka dots or patterns are allowed. Logos and accent colors must be small and also in the above approved school colors only. Shoes may not be two-toned. Laces must be either white or the same color as the shoe.
