Instruction in Music and Art begin at a young age as students attend classes beginning in Junior Primary and continue through Eighth Grade.  Each year builds upon the previous, allowing children to retain and perfect the skills they acquire.  In Junior High, students begin studies of theatre and dance.

Creative Expression Through Art.   A thorough and carefully sequenced curriculum provides students at all grade levels opportunities for individual, creative expression through Art.  The primary objectives of our Art Program include:

Learn to work with a wide variety of materials over the  course of the year and receive skill lessons in the use of these materials Refine artistic skill, technique, and individual style Develop an awareness of art history, and the historical context of artists throughout time Understand art concepts which are taught in a systematic method and develop skills in visual perception that will enhance their potential to provide creative and innovative thinking in all fields of study Gain an appreciation for artists through discussion of art as the expression of one's ideals.

Creative Expression Through Music.  Music permeates life at Carden Academy. The Music curriculum is designed to build a knowledge and love of music and the joy of singing. Through our extensive Music program, Carden students acquire:

Knowledge of a wide range of songs including patriotic, seasonal, action, folk songs, and hymns A mastery of singing technique and improved vocal range and listening skills An appreciation of music through listening to the works of famous composers as well as music from around the world The ability to read music and analyze rhythmic patterns, phrasing, and tempo changes An introduction to the piano keyboard and other instruments, including a comprehensive knowledge of playing the recorder Confidence as they share their musical talents and knowledge through special performances throughout the year
